The Equipment of Mine

By Mikael Cedergren in equipment, personal

To me it’s more important to be flexible and portable than having tack sharp photos. I’m not the kind of photographer that wants to haul with me massive amounts of strobes and even more assistants. I like the personal touch, and I want to keep the handy work for myself. I prefer to be portable, comfortable and flexible.

SlideShowPro Slides My Show

By Mikael Cedergren in Reviews

Slide Show Pro

I’ve been looking for a good online slide show software to display my photography in a pleasing way, but this have proven to be a most arduous task. For me, the most important factors where that it had to be quick, easy to navigate and a looker that blended in with the rest of the design. However, I ended up spending many days to look for an image viewer constructed in Flash that didn’t have a major flaw in it. Either it cropped my photos and being a photographer the composition and the boundaries of the picture is a big deal. So no cropping. Or it had thumbnails but no next/previous buttons to the right/left of the application area which is a feature I personally enjoy. And sometimes it was noticeably just crappy programmed, filled with bugs and bad will. Or… it simply looked like shit.

The Hot Shoe Diaries Review

By Mikael Cedergren in Books, Reviews

hot_shoe_diaries-352x400I recently bought a book I’ve been eagerly awaiting for many months: The Hot Shoe Diaries by Joe McNally. I can say it’s a definite gem in my collection. Joe is no doubt an expert in light, and even though I have good control in post processing, this book made me realize that the knowledge of lightning is essential for every photographer at some point. Well, I kinda already knew that part, but it gave me a new found respect to do things properly instead of taking shortcuts because “I can fix that later in Photoshop”. And once details are lost, there’s no way to get them back.
